Meet the dedicated board serving the Utility Safety & Ops Leadership Network. With over 200 years of combined utility industry experience, this group works hard to nurture, grow and serve our organization.
Jeff Clemons is currently employed with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). SDG&E is one of three domestic utilities owned by Sempra Energy, a Fortune 500 company with energy holdings across the United States, Mexico, Peru, and Chile. In addition to leading SDG&E projects, Jeff has also worked as a domestic and international corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Auditor for Sempra Energy, evaluating numerous projects across all of Sempra’s business units. Jeff now leads a team of skilled safety professionals who monitor and advise multi-disciplined utility contractors responsible for constructing high-profile projects for SDG&E.
In addition to supporting electrical transmission and distribution projects, Jeff has supported natural gas transmission projects as well. He has also provided safety oversight on innovative clean energy projects such as synchronous condenser additions to substations, and the largest lithium-ion battery energy storage facility in North America. With over 12 years of utility experience, his knowledge and expertise in human performance and behavior help ensure SDG&E’s Major Projects division continues to successfully and safely complete projects with injury and illness rates well below the industry’s average.
Jeff received the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) designation in 2012 and possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Psychology from the University of the Pacific.
